| home_assistant_suitability_basis | Documented Modbus protocol gateway, but NOT in the factory-shipped firmware. Tibbo ships the DS110x preloaded with the Serial-over-IP (SoI) application, which is a transparent tunnel with a Windows virtual serial port driver. The Tibbo Modbus Gateway (TMG) is a separate first-party application that is loaded onto the same hardware; its manual states 'Tibbo Modbus Gateways seamlessly route Modbus requests and replies between Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, and Modbus ASCII Masters and Slaves', and the manual's model list names TPS2(G2), TPS3(G3), DS1101 and DS1102. With TMG loaded the device presents a Modbus TCP server that forwards to serial Modbus RTU or ASCII slaves, which is the Home Assistant / Node-RED case. The TMG manual does not print a default Modbus TCP port number. Suitability is therefore conditional on loading TMG, and false on the as-shipped SoI firmware. CAVEAT for this model: the WS1102 product page states 'A versatile Modbus Gateway application is also available', but the TMG manual's own supported-model list names TPS2(G2), TPS3(G3), DS1101 and DS1102 and does not name the WS1102. The claim rests on the product page alone. |
